PRINCE2 and MS Project

Is applying PRINCE2 methodology to Project worthwhile?

RE: PRINCE2 and MS Project

Hi Lucy

Thank you for your question - it is possible to use MS Project alongside Prince 2. There are third party products that adapt terminology and create additional input areas to bring it more closely into line with the methodology. In addition there are Office templates for Word, Excel and PowerPoint that can be used to support a Prince 2 plan. Search for Prince2 at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/

I hope this helps - do let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

MS Project tip:

a. In Project, click on the File tab
b. Select Options from left hand side
c. Click on Schedule to set the scheduling options
d. Set the Default Task type box to your chosen option
i. Generally if you plan/estimate your projects using durations you should use fixed duration, and untick the box New tasks are effort driven, if you plan/estimate with person hours use fixed work, or for plans estimated with the proportion of resources time use fixed units, and untick the box New tasks are effort driven)
