Baseline
How do I setup multiple baselines throughout an ongoing project?
RE: Baseline
Hi Jassen
Thank you for your question. At the start of your project save the first baseline
Go to the Project ribbon then click Set Baseline. From the dialogue box that appears click OK.
After time passes, and the project develops, you may find you want to update the baseline.
Before you overwrite the original baseline you can back it up. Do this by going back to the Project ribbon and clicking Set Baseline.
(You will see that the Baseline field is currently selected and has a date beside it indicating when it was saved.)
Choose the option to set an Interim plan. In the Copy field select Baseline. In the Into field select Baseline1. When you click OK the current baseline is copied into the backup Baseline1 fields.
Lastly re-open the Set Baseline dialogue box. The original baseline will be automatically selected. Click OK and Yes (to the warning prompt). The old baseline will be replaced with a new baseline reflecting your current position.
Because the original values have been backed up you can readily see the original baseline by simply changing the view. Click on the View ribbon. In the Task Views group click Other Views then More views. Finally choose the multiple baselines Gantt.
To switch back just choose the Gantt Chart view again.
Let me know how you get on and if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Andrew
