Project 2007 vs 2010

Hi,

Having just got back into the office after my MS project 2007 course, I've just discovered that I now have 2010 version. Can you remind me of the main differences/things to consider when working in 2010 vs 2007.

Thanks,

Louise

RE: Project 2007 vs 2010

Hello Louise,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft MS Project 2007 Intro - Intermediatecourse with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding the differences between version 2007 and 2010.

There are too many new features to mention in a forum post. Essentially, entering tasks and durations is the same as well as all the other activities which were covered on your training course, however, the main thing you have to contend with is that new tasks are manually scheduled as opposed to auto scheduled. Of course you can change this so that everything is the same as in 2007. You will also have to search through the ribbons to locate the various tools which we used through various menus.

I would suggest that you open help and search for Project 2010 new features... this will provide you with as much information as you will need to continue on with this version without too many problems.

Incidentally, the Properties can be found in the File tab > Info section in the top right side of your screen.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
Regards,

Rodney

Ms Project 2010 hide something like "gantt chart wizard".

Hi Louise,
As mentioned by Rodney, there are too many new features to mention in a forum post. You can browse through the Microsoft Project 2010 website to know more about the product. Also check out the new features and version comparisons between the 2 products.

MS Project tip:

Inserting Task Durations Quickly

When entering durations for your tasks simply use the single letters - m for min, h for hr, d for day, w for week, but mon for month. If default is set for days, you need only type the number, for example 3 for 3days, or 0.5 for half a day.
