How can I set up user names and passwords for accessing forms?

RE: Setting up user access

Hi Matthew, thanks for your query and apologies for the delay! Password protecting forms is not as simple as hitting a switch, I'm afraid and if this were to be done across a company it would certainly involve IT setting up user access rights on individual group machines. However, there is a more rough and ready work around - basically you build your own version of a form with a password input mask, test whether the password is correct then let the user in. That test can involve a small amount of code which opens up it's own pandora's box of issues, but below is a link to another forum walkthrough of how to do this.

If you want more assistance on this, raise it on the Access Intermediate course and I or the allocated trainer can walk you through it.

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Access tip:

How To Find All Overdue Accounts?

To find overdue accounts create a filter that compares today's date with the Invoice Date in the table. To do this:

1. Open the Query in Design View
2. Select the field for the filter and in the criteria row enter:

<Date()

This filter returns records where the Invoice Date is before today's date.

This filter can be manipulated if, for instance, Invoices are due 15 days after the Invoice Date. For this the filter would be:

<Date()-15

This filter returns records where the Invoice Date is 15 days before today's date.
