Updating a League Table

Hi Anthony,

Further to our discussion at the training course on Friday, could you tell me how you update a league table automatically in Excel, without the need to manually cut and paste rows so that the person with the higest score is at the top and the lowest score is at the bottom?

I would like to create a league table that upon a new score being attributed to each person, the league table will update the ranking order automatically?

For example:

James - 325
Tom - 336
John - 316
Peter - 349
Mark - 322

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,
David

RE: Updating a League Table

Hi David, thanks for your query and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. There's no way to sort automatically on the same worksheet without using macros. However, have a look at this link:

http://exceltemplate.net/sports/create-your-own-soccer-league-fixtures-and-table/

The download contains a workbook with separate worksheets which, when updated correctly cause the league to be reordered automatically. The formulas don't use much more than IF and VLOOKUP statements so you should be able to cannibilise it to what you need, if nothing else you can just replace the team names!

Hope this helps,

Anthony
