If I link a number of different projects and save them in a 'Master File' could I sort the projects within a file by date?
Yes you can go to project on the menu bar then sort by start date

a. In Project, click on the File tab
b. Select General from left hand side (this should be the screen displayed by default)
c. Set the Default view dropdown box to your chosen option
d. Click OK to apply your changes
