MS Project 2003 - Using a Workspace

I have been trying o use the workspace function for ease as I have a Master project with subs however, I follow the instruction in the 2003 Intermediate Manual and it comes up with 'Operation Failed!'.

Am I doing something wrong - is it because some of the projects I want to open are on different places on a network? Or generally is the workspace function a waste of time?
Thanks
K

RE: MS Project 2003 - Using a Workspace

Hi Katherine

Thanks for your question. In principle the workspace feature should make it easy to open several projects at the same time.

To save a workspace first open and arrange your plans then from the File menu choose save workspace.

In future when you double click the workspace file MS Project will re-open and arrange your selected files.

If you find you are having problems follow this process with just two files. Once you are happy that it works you go ahead and save a workspace with the files you need.

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

MS Project tip:

Autofit column width – Project (all versions)

At the top of the columns where each column name is located (Task Name, Duration, etc.), hover over the vertical column line which you want to move.

A short bold vertical line will appear, with horizontal arrows pointing left and right.

Left click and hold this icon and it will permit you to grab the column line, allowing you to move it left or right to your desired location.
