Split tasks

Is there a way of working out the amount a task has been split by? And is there a way to assign a resourse to a split?

Thank you?

RE: Split tasks

Hi Derren

Thank you for your question

To calculate the length of a split you need to create two customised duration fields. The first field calculates the number of days between the start and finish. Click on Tools-Customise-Fields. Select Duration 1 and click on the formula button. Insert a projdatediff function, where date 1 is the start date and date 2 is the finish date, leave the calendar field blank.

Then create a second customised date field, date2 with a formula that subtracts duration from duration1

This will give you the length of the split. You can then insert it as a column in your gantt chart

Regards

Stephen

MS Project tip:

Autofit column width – Project (all versions)

At the top of the columns where each column name is located (Task Name, Duration, etc.), hover over the vertical column line which you want to move.

A short bold vertical line will appear, with horizontal arrows pointing left and right.

Left click and hold this icon and it will permit you to grab the column line, allowing you to move it left or right to your desired location.
