Pie chart

how do you change the colour of a pie chart if it is locked.

RE: pie chart

Hi Kerry

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

I assume when you say 'locked' you mean that you are not able to edit the chart in any way?

If so this may be because protection is applied to the worksheet. You can try removing this by going to Tools - Protection and see if you can select the Unprotect Sheet option - if so, this means that protection has been applied.

If you then select this option, you may be asked for a password. If you aren't then the protection is removed straight away and you can make changes. If there is a password, then there's not much you can do about that unless the person who put it on tells you what it is or uses it to remove the protection for you.

Excel tip:

Conditional formatting for cells that return text , not picked up by Go to command

If you have tried to format all cells containing text even those that display text as a result of a formula you may have had difficulty. As Go to command with constant selected does not pick up formulas that result in text.

Then try this. Select the range the formula cells appear in on your sheet. Format, select Conditional Formatting menu. In the dialog box under Condition 1, select "Formula Is" from drop down. Next to it in the Formula Box, enter the formula =Istext(A1. Click Format button , choose desired formatting settings and click OK. To go ahead and apply the conditional formatting click OK to accept
