Excel

why is there size limitations on all spreadsheets

RE: excel

Martyn,

I'm not sure if there is a FILE size limit? Is that what you mean? Or columns and rows?

A Microsoft Office Excel worksheet contains 65,536 rows and 256 columns. You cannot increase the number of rows or columns beyond the maximum row and column limits.

See this page for some discussion on why these limits are on place, and whether MS should expand or contract the limits:

(The general thought seems to be if you need more rows, you should probably be using a database).

Regards, Rich

Excel tip:

Display Functions on Worksheets

Functions in Excel can be difficult to recall their format/syntax

For example, you want to use the =PMT function.

Enter =PMT, then select keystroke, CTRL+SHIFT+A.

This usful memory jog, will display the arguments of a function on a worksheet, allowing the user to proceed with the generation of the function
