Seeing the date and file name in my document

Word: In excel when you print a document you can ensure that at the foot of each page is the file name and date. Similarly I would like my word documents when printed to include the date and the file name.

RE: seeing the date and file name in my document

Hi Karen

When you are in Word what you will need to do to create the file path and name in every footer of your document is as follows

Go to the view menu and click header and footer, you will then get a header/footer toolbar, tab to the position you need the file name and path to be i.e. left centre or right .

When you have done that click on the insert autotext button on the toolbar and from the drop down list choose file name and path, then click the close button on the toolbar.

To see this either go to print preview, or the view menu, and click page layout

Word tip:

Remove 'Getting Started' Pane

When you start Microsoft Word 2003 a "Getting Started" pane appears to the right of the new document window.

It contains several options such as "Connect to Microsoft Office Online", "Get the latest news about using Word" and a list of your most recently accessed documents. Though useful to some, others may find it annoying.

The following steps allow you to remove the "Getting Started" pane.

1. Choose Tools then Options

2. In the Options dialog box select the View tab

3. Uncheck Startup Task Pane

4. Click OK to close the dialog box.
