The best approach would be to open the resource usage sheet and then go to the assignment in question. You can manually adjust the hours worked per day to achieve exactly the effect that you need.

However, as you will be altering the number of hours worked and you need Project to alter the percentage allocation of the resource, it would be a good idea to set the task type to "Fixed Duration", as if left as "fixed units" project might under certain circumstances alter the overall duration instead.
