RE: Data Validation

Hello Haninder,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Excel course with BEST Training.

What you are reffereing to is unique values. As a default in Excel, I do not know of a way you can acheive this, although having said that, there may be on of our trainers that could answer your question.

What I can say is that if you were using Microsoft Access, then you would be able to do this very easily. You would simply set the field to being a Primary Key, or set the property that is called ALLOW DUPLICATES to NO.
This will restrict the data in the field to uniques.

As Excel is more open ended and user friendly, it does not contain that capacity. You may be able to achieve using VBA coding, as then you have access to any part of Excel that you choose.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps

you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

Excel tip:

Colouring cells containing formulas

Cells in a worksheet can contain values or they can contain formulas. You may wish to identify all the cells in your worksheet that contain formulas by colouring those cells.

Follow these steps:
1. Choose Edit > Go To menu, or press either F5 or Ctrl+G. Excel displays the Go To dialog box.
2. Click Special. Excel displays the Go To Special dialog box.
3. Select the Formulas radio button option.
4. Select OK.

At this point, every formula cell in the worksheet is selected, and those cells can be coloured formatted as desired.
