Template
I would like to know how to create a screen as a standard template incorporating a logo.
RE: Template
Hi Jon
Thank you for your question. Sorry about the delay in replying, I've been off work since Thursday's training.
Firstly use go to the Slide Master (View - Master - Slide master) and set up the formatting you want your template to have (fonts, font colours etc). You can insert a logo onto the slide master provided you have the logo saved as an image file on your computer, by going to Insert - Picture - From file, selecting the logo image and clicking Insert. Position the logo image where you want it to appear on your slides.
Once you have set up the slide master the way you want it, go to File - Save as. Next to the Save as type: box, use the dropdown arrow and select Design Template (.pot). Once you select this option, the location next to the Save in: box at the top of the screen will automatically change for you. If you save the template in this location it will make the template easily accessible when you want to apply it. Otherwise you can choose a different location to save the template to.
Once you have chosen where the template will be saved, give the template a name in the File name: box and Save.
Then close the template file.
Start a new presentation. If you have saved your template in the default location that PowerPoint chooses for you, you can click the Design button at the top of the screen to access the Design templates, and your template will be available in the Available for Use category - simply click on it to apply the template.
If you chose to save your template in a different location, use the Browse link at the bottom of the Slide Design task pane to navigate to and select your template; and click Apply.
If you wish to make changes to your template, apply the template to a presentation, access the slide master, make the changes, then save the file as a Design template over top of the existing template file (to overwrite it).
I hope this helps.
