Creating a drop down box

How do I create a dropdown box on a spreadsheet?

RE: Creating a drop down box

Hi Shani

Thank you for your question, and apologies for the delay in reply.

You can create a dropdown list by using Data Validation.

This is how:

1. Select the cells you wish to create the dropdown list in.
2. Go to Data - Validation.
3. Under Allow: select List
4. In the Source box, type each item you want in the dropdown list separated by a comma and a space.
e.g. North, South, East, West.

5. Click OK.

You should then be able to select one of the items from the list and it should then appear in the cell.

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Excel tip:

Formula for last day of month

In some cases it is necessary to find the last day of a month for a given date. If you use the following formula, you can achieve this, ie; if you have a column of dates, use this formula to find the end of month for each day by using the fill handle. The formula is as follows, and assumes in this example that the first date in question is in cell C5, in any other cell type; =DATE(YEAR(C5),MONTH(C5)+1,1)-1
