How do you assign a macro?

RE: Macros

Hi Ahmed,

Thank you for your question.

To assign a macro, you need to select an item (draw an autoshape, insert a new button on your toolbar, a picture...etc) to assign first. Right click on the item and select assign macro will setup the link.

For assigning a macro button on your toolbar:
1) TOOLS menu > CUSTOMIZE
2) COMMANDS tab > category MACROS > (right window) drag up the icon: CUSTOM BUTTON onto the toolbar
3) right click the newly inserted BUTTON:
> ASSIGN MACRO > choose the preferred macro
*You can also change the button name / image
4) press OK on CUSTOMIZE window

Hope this helps.

Katie

RE: Macros

Thank you for your reply.

However, I want to make this comment;

I was impressed by the course I attended on the 30/11/07.

The trainer - Sandy Grey was excellent.

In my opinion, it is difficult for a student to make notes, follow a Tutor's instructions, and perform the instructions on his/her PC at the same time.

Even though Ms Grey was patient to ensure every student understood and completed a specific topic, there were occasions other topics were rushed because we were running out of tme.

In circumstances like this, I have always relied on my student notes.

At home on Saturday - 01/12/07, I printed the MS EXCEL 2003 ADVANCED COURSE Notes from the CD given.

Unfortunately, there are no notes on :

- Advanced Formulas
- Macros.

Pivot tables is well explained in the notes..

Infact, I attended the course because of the 3 topics above
and even though they were covered on the day, I still need the notes to refresh my mind from time to time.

Could you please send me notes on the 2 topics above to enable me apply these applications.

The interactive questions are not good for me.

Thank you.

Ahmed.

Excel tip:

Conditional formatting for cells that return text , not picked up by Go to command

If you have tried to format all cells containing text even those that display text as a result of a formula you may have had difficulty. As Go to command with constant selected does not pick up formulas that result in text.

Then try this. Select the range the formula cells appear in on your sheet. Format, select Conditional Formatting menu. In the dialog box under Condition 1, select "Formula Is" from drop down. Next to it in the Formula Box, enter the formula =Istext(A1. Click Format button , choose desired formatting settings and click OK. To go ahead and apply the conditional formatting click OK to accept
