Percentages on excel

What is the formula for entering percentages in a cell?

RE: Percentages on excel

Hi Lavon

Thank you for your question.

When you want to create a percentage in Excel, the rule of thumb is to take the part and divide by the whole.

For example, if you have sales for Quarter 1 and total sales for the whole year, and you want to find out what percentage sales for Quarter 1 were of the whole year, you divide the sales for Quarter 1 by the total sales for the whole year.

Then you need to format the cell where you've put the formula as a percentage (Format - Cells - Number then choose Percentage and OK).

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Excel tip:

DATEDIF function

The DATEDIF function is a worksheet function that computes the difference between two dates. This function is documented only in the help files for Excel 2000. It isn't documented in Excel 2002.
the formula function is:
=DATEDIF(Your age,Today(),"Y")
Y stands for year
