Can I select a greater area than the current information on th espreadsheet to ensure I capture all new data

Thank you for your question.

I'm not sure whether there would be an implications associated with selecting a larger data area than necessary for the pivot table.

What you can do is set up a dynamic data range, by creating a named range which will automatically expand itself. For further details on how to do this, please see www.contextures.com/xlPivot01.html
