Opening an excel document as read only

When right clicking on an excel document from the open window the option to open a file as read only is sometimes present. If not how can a file be opened as read only so other users can open the file after you as the main user?

RE: Opening an excel document as read only

Hi Anthony

When you use the File Open dialog there is a drop down arrow next to the OPEN button. Click the arrow and choose the read only option.

Cheers!

Alan

Excel tip:

Naming and Using Constants

Constants make calculations easier so worksheets are more easily understood. Constant values also need to be given relevant and memorably names. It is also easier to change the value of a constant.

For example:
Instead of entering 17.5% in each cell when you generate a VAT amount you could name a Constant "VAT" and assigning a "0.175" value to it. To do this:

From the 'Insert' menu select 'Name', then select 'Define'.

Enter the constant
