Organising information in date order

How do you select and organise information into ascending date order?

RE: Organising information in date order

Hi Krystle

Thank you for your question.

You would first need to ensure that:

1. All your dates were in one column
2. The column containing the dates had a heading at the top (e.g. Date) which has been bolded.
3. All dates are in the same format.
4. There are no blank rows within the list of dates.

Then you can select any of the cells that contain a date, then click the Sort Ascending button on the standard toolbar (button with A and Z on it).

Excel tip:

Importing Numbers in Excel 2010

Occasionally, when importing data into Excel you find that the some of the imported values are treated as text.

To convert these numbers to actual values, click on an empty cell and press Ctrl+C.

Next, select the range that contains the values you need to change and in the Clipboard Group on the Home tab, click the Paste drop-down arrow and choose Paste Special. In the Paste Special dialog box, select Add and then click OK.
