Assigning Dates

Sometimes excel does not recognise dates. Is there a function that can label these fields as dates?

RE: Assigning Dates

Hi Ryan. Not so much a function, but you can use cell formatting to reformat according to a pre-set criteria, or you could use Data - Validation to force entry according to a list of dates you set up elsewhere and use to populate a drop down. Finally, you could set up a macro to display a dialog box on cell entry filled with date options, thereby constraining the user to enter date in the format of your choice.

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Excel tip:

Separate the year from a date

To separate the year from a date use the =year() function, eg a date is in cell A1 and in A2 you wish to display the year enter the function =year(A1)
