Teams and Outlook Integration
Does anyone know how to get Outlook to show agenda items that are created in the Teams Calendar? Teams calendar provides an agenda by default which can be populated, but that information does not get copied across the the Outlook calendar appointment. Any ideas?
RE: Teams and Outlook Integration
Hello John,
Thank you for your question.
You're right — Microsoft Teams and Outlook calendars are integrated, but the agenda or description field from a Teams calendar event often doesn't automatically sync over to Outlook in full detail. Here are some potential workarounds:
What's Happening:
- When you create a meeting in Microsoft Teams, especially via a channel, the agenda or meeting notes you add in Teams (like in the "Details" or "Agenda" section) often stay within Teams.
- Outlook will show the meeting title, time, and participants, but not always the full agenda or rich formatting unless it was entered directly in the Outlook meeting invite or synced properly.
What You Can Try
1. Use Outlook to Create the Meeting
If you create the meeting in Outlook and use the Teams Meeting add-in, the agenda you write in the body of the invite will sync to both Outlook and Teams.
2. Edit the Meeting in Outlook After Creating in Teams
If you start the meeting in Teams:
- Open the same meeting in Outlook.
- Manually copy the agenda from Teams into the Outlook meeting description.
- Save the changes—this will update the meeting for all participants.
3. Use the Teams Meeting Add-in in Outlook
Make sure the Teams Meeting Add-in is enabled in Outlook:
- Go to File > Options > Add-ins.
- Under Manage COM Add-ins, click Go.
- Ensure Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office is checked.
4. Sync Settings Check
Ensure you're signed into both Teams and Outlook with the same Microsoft 365 account. Also, check:
- In Outlook: File > Options > Calendar > Add online meeting to all meetings.
- In Teams: Settings > General > Register Teams as the chat app for Office.
5. Manual Workaround
If the agenda is critical and not syncing, consider:
- Adding it as a OneNote link or attached document in the meeting invite.
- Using the Meeting Notes feature in Teams and sharing the link in the Outlook invite.
I hope this information will be helpful to you.

RE: Teams and Outlook Integration
Thanks Marius,
Copy and pasting the agenda (as a Loop component) from Teams Calendar to Outlook Calendar seems to be the only way I could get it to appear in both appointments. I tried this first suggestion (creating the appointment using the Team Meeting Add-in in Outlook) but the agenda doesn't appear for me unfortunately, even though the add-in is synched properly.
Hopefully full synchronisation of all elements in both Teams and Calendar will be resolved in the near future.
Best wishes
John

Hi John,
Yes indeed, hopefully Microsoft can make this happen soon.
