ADDING TIME
How can I add up minutes in a column of cells, and end up with an output of hours and minutes please. I don't want an output of days hours minutes. Needs to be hours + minutes.
Imagine someone walked your dog every day for a year for a period of time and you wanted to add up exactly how many hours and minutes they had spent.
Thank you!
RE: ADDING TIME
Hi Jason,
Thank you for the forum question.
To get Excel to understand it is time, time must be typed like this 10:35:20
10 hours 35 minutes and 20 seconds
But now to the tricky part. Excel cannot add up time if the result is more than 24 hours without custom formatting. If you select the range where you want to work with more than 24 hours you will need to use the format code below.
[h]:mm;@
Select the range. On the Home tab in the Number group click on the down arrow you have in the bottom right corner of the group. On the left side of the dialog box which appear. Click custom and in the Type box type the code above. If you also want to include seconds the code is [h]:mm:ss;@
Kind regards
