V Lookup

Is there a formula which is preferred to V lookup? I believe I remember YENS saying that V lookup was slow and that there where other formulas which where better and did the same job? Maybe MATCH?

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the forum question.

Yes the Vlookup can slow down everything in Excel if you work with many records. A much more efficient option is a Index function together with a Match function, but it is also a more complicated option. Index/match can also do much more than the Vlookup.
