Windows Explorer searching

Now that I have been upgraded to 365 I am unable to search my explorer folders as it just shuts down when I enter anything into the search box. Is this a glitch with 365?

RE: Windows Explorer searching

Hi Denise

Thanks for your question.

There are several reasons this could be happening. Could you tell us a bit more about the problem? Is this problem occurring when you're using the 'Open with Explorer' view, with a synced Sharepoint library or when you've mapped the library to the network drive?

RE: Windows Explorer searching

Hi Denise

Do you have an update where you are with this problem?
Office 365 requires up to date operating systems and hardware. It works best with Windows 10 and a fairly new Laptop or Desktop.

Older machines or operating systems will sometimes glitch but your IT support would be best to advise you on that.

RE: Windows Explorer searching

Hi All,

I am using a Surface Pro which is only a few months old so it as up to date as you can get.

I am not yet using synced sharepoint librarys so this is happening purely when in windows explorer.

Say I am looking for a file that contains a particular account number when I put the account number into the search function it glitches and shuts windows explorer completely. I found that this was a really useful tool previously so was hoping to resolve this for future use.
Thanks
Denise

RE: Windows Explorer searching

Hi Denise,

Thanks for letting me know you are on a Surface Pro, it's clearly not an old hardware issue!

It sounds like the issue is related to the underlying Operating System which loads the file Explorer. Windows 10 will frequently update, the last update applied could have caused this to glitch or the installation of Office 365 has done this.

Actions you could take
Personally, from my use of Surfaces, I've found that any glitches that occur were the result of the last update or install. Uninstalling that and reinstalling generally solves it.
Your'll find the options under Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall

Technical support from Microsoft
If you can narrow it to the installing of Office 365 (which sounds likely), Microsoft offer you support as part of that license and you can get help from them directly using their Official Microsoft Product support page.

Microsoft Office tip:

Renaming or Deleting Files when Saving or Opening

You can rename and delete files any time you are using a FILE > OPEN or a FILE > SAVE dialog box.
When you see the list of files when browsing in the current folder, you can treat is just like the windows explorer window, by selecting and then editing.

To rename, just give the file a single click to select, then a second to enter the file name. Type the name you want, and press enter.

To delete, a single click and hit the delete key.
