IS it possible to link two pivot tables to 1 timeline, if so how?

RE: Timelines

Hi Ian,

Thank you for the forum question.

Yes you can control any number of pivottables from a timeline.

Select the time line and click Report Connections/PivotTable connections on the Options tab in the Time Line group.

RE: Timelines

Thanks Jens

When I try that I only get reported connections, I don't get the option of managing them.

Kind Regards

RE: Timelines

Hi Ian,

I can understand that you have Excel 2013 or 2016. In these two version you have Report Connections. If you have the TimeLine selected and click on Report Connections you should be able to see all PivotTables created from the same source data.

If your PivotTables are created from multiple PivotCaches (Multiple data sources) you cannot filter them from the same data source.

I hope this is helpful.

RE: Timelines

Thanks again Jens.

I have two pivot tables created from the same data table using the reccomended pivot tables button. Should I therefore recreate them manually instead?

Kind Regards
Ian

Excel tip:

Quick Absolute Cell References

When entering cell references in a formula you probably click the cell, or you may type in the cell reference. If you require any of the 4 variations, press the F4 key now before you press Enter to toggle around the relative and absolute entries ($signs).

Note that the F4 key outside of editing a formula is the Repeat key to repeat a previous action.
