Inserted Word objects in Excel

We have a series of templates in which the header area has inserted objects which are Word files.

One of these is suddenly uneditable. The user was previously able to edit and now can't. Neither can I.

What is the remedy and how can we prevent this

Many thanks

RE: Inserted Word objects in Excel

Hi Liz,

Thank you for the forum question. If you insert an object from another file as a link the link can break. The link will break if the files are moved to another folder.

Open the Excel file and click on the Data tab. Click EDIT LINKS in the CONNECTION group. Here you can test the link to see if it is work. If not you will need to create the link again.

Excel tip:

Conditional Formatting in Excel 2010

If you have lots of data in a spreadsheet, you may find that it is easier to read if you highlight some of the values. This is Conditional Formatting and here's how to use it:

1) Select the data you wish to apply the format to and click Conditional Formatting
2) A list of options will then appear, from this list, choose the format you wish to display e.g. find all cells with a value less than 0
3) Excel will then highlight all of these cells

To remove this: select the highlighted cells, click the drop down on the Conditional Formatting icon and select Clear Rules from selected cells.
