Dashboard Distribution

Hi Doug/Jens

Just to ask your advice.

How do people usually circulate dynamic dashboard data?

By Email, or particular link on companies intranet etc.

Have some concerns within team I am working with, that people open up emails with different excel version/in tablet, may slow down filter function of dashboard, causing further confusion.

Or any other ideal way to circulate as best practice.

Thanks

Xiaorong

RE: Dashboard Distribution

Hi Xiaorong,

Thank you for the forum question.

I cannot give you s straight forward answer on this one.

If it is possible I would circulate a dashboard by using intranet. This make it easier for you to control and update the dashboard. If you email it you will need to email a new each time you update source data or amend the dashboard.

If users use different versions of Excel it can give problems. If you have PivotTable slicers in the dashboard a Excel 2007 user cannot use the slicers. There is also some limitations for tablets users and Mac users.

Microsoft is working on removing the limitations. In February all MS Office 365 users will have the same functionality (Mac and PC users). All MS Office users will update to Excel 2016 in February.

There is now different between Mac Excel 2016 and PC Excel 2016.

I cannot tell you Microsoft plans with the tablet versions.

Removing the Ribbon from view in Excel 2010

At times when you want to view the whole spreadsheet, try double clicking on the ''Home'' tab on the ribbon which will hide the ribbon from view.
