Chart Creation

Hi all, back usign Excel 2003, I used to be able to create a chart with two data sets depicted: one volume set via columns (bar graph) and another percentage set as a line graph. How do I do this in Excel 2010, I can't seem to perform this without having to create two separate tables.

Thanks,

DC

RE: Chart Creation

Hi Dan

Thank you for your question and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

To create a dual axis chart select your data range and insert a line chart. Then select the series that you would like to plot on a secondary axis, right click on it and select Format Axis from the drop-down menu. In the Format current selection dialog box select Secondary Axis under Series Options and click on Close. Then select the series that you would like to plot on a different chart and click on Change Chart Type button on the Design tab. Select column chart, click on Ok and this should give you a combination chart with one series plotted on the column chart and the second on the line chart. Please note that this works only with 2D charts.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

RE: Chart Creation

Bit of a faff but ultimately, I can see more functionality resulting from this method.

Thanks alot for responding, Anna :)...although I feel a wee bit daft. I can create and utilise pivot tables but couldn't work out how to depict two data sets using two axises.

C'est la vie

Regards,

DC

1) Select a cell you would like to rotate
2) Click the ''Home'' tab in the Ribbon
3) Click ''orientation'' in the ''Alignment'' section
4) A pop up menu will appear with a few choices, if you want to decide yourself how many degrees to rotate the text, then click ''Format Cell Alignment.''
