Re formatting

How do I remove an inverted comma in front of a number eg '1614 in order to get the number only 1614

RE: Re formatting

Hi Pauline

Thanks for getting in touch. You can convert cells that look like numbers into real numbers with the VALUE function.

If your data '1614 is in cell A1 you would write

=VALUE(A1)

You could then Copy - Paste Special - Values to remove the formula when you're finished.

Kind regards

RE: Re formatting

I had already tried this before by copying the no ( text format)and paste ( right click, paste and value only) .
and reformatting it to number but it doesn't work when you are comparing two nos ( when using V look up) ...Even tried reformatting the two columns which I am comparing in the look up but still doesn't work.

RE: Re formatting

Hi Pauline

Thanks for your reply. The VALUE function will help make your VLOOKUPs work. I've attached a workbook to give you an idea of how it fits together.
