1. Can you link one spreadsheet to another spreadsheet?
2. Can you delete something from one spreadsheet and the same information will delete from the linked spreadsheet (if possible)?
3. How do you take the same information from one spreadsheet to another spreadsheet withou copying and pasting (especially when the information you are copying is scattered)?

can you do a v look up between 2 seperate spreadsheets?

RE: excel

Hi Nasima

Yes data from one spreadsheet can be linked to another spreadsheet. If it is a block of data the easiest way is as follows:

Open both spreadsheets
Copy the block of data from spreadsheet 1
Select a cell in spreadsheet 2
Choose Paste Special
Press Paste Link button

Then if data is deleted from spreadsheet 1 it will display as 0 in spreadsheet 2.

Also when opening spreadsheet 2 on its own you will be prompted with Options, choose Enable Content to display the latest changes made to spreadsheet 1.

If the data is scattered then copy / paste link wont work.
You can start in spreadsheet 2 and use the following method:

Select a cell
Press =
Navigate to spreadsheet 1
select the cell you wish to link
Press Enter

You will have to do this for all the date you wish to link.

You can also use this method to linka block of cell. But you have to remove the $ signs around the cells reference before pressing Enter. Then the linked cell can be copied down and across.

Please let me know if that helps Nasima

Excel tip:

How to Remove Duplication's from a selection of data in an Excel 2010 Worksheet

It would take far too much time to scan through rows and rows of data to find and remove duplicate data. So, here's how to do this using a much more efficient method:-

1) Select the data that might contain duplication's
2) Click the ''Data'' tab
3) Go to ''Data Tools'' and click ''Remove Duplicates''
4) A box will appear. Tick the boxes of the columns that you want to use to check for duplicates. Finally, click ''OK.''
