Data Tables Reference Cells

Hi,

I am trying to get my head around data tables. What I need to know is when you go into What-If>>Data Tables, it asks you for two input cells, a column and a row.

What I need to know is what is the rule for choosing the right cells for this in two variable an one variable table? I keep getting different results when I chose different reference cells.

Thanks

RE: Data Tables Reference Cells

Hi Imran

Thanks for getting in touch. Data Tables can be a little unpredictable until you get used to them.

Before using the feature you need to set up some headings on your workbook, the top row and left column of your table, leaving the values blank. The very top-left corner of the table must contain your formula.

Then, you go to What If > Data Tables. In Row Input cell you specify what changes as you go across the table. In Column Input cell you specify what changes as you go down the table.

I've attached an example to help explain further, with a screenshot showing what you must select and what to put in the boxes.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

Thanks Gary,

Its a lot more clearer now that I've got an actual example to work with! Thanks for that!
