How to show arrow on drop down list

How to show arrow on drop down list

Hi,

I've created a drop down list using data validation but unless the user is on the cell they won't know there's one there.

Can you tell me how to have the arrow showing when the cell isn't highlighted.

Hi Raani

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately using Data Validation you can't have the arrow shown at all times.

If you must have that appearance, you can try using the combobox control, which is part of the Developer toolbar. It comes with a fair amount of work to display the result however. There's more information about it here:

Excel tip:

Using an equal (=) sign that isn't part of a formula

Before you type the equal sign, type an apostrophe: '
Then type your equal sign: = (and anything else you want to add after your equal sign)
Press ENTER.

(the apostraphe will disappear
