Editing a pivot chart

Good afternoon

I have created a pivot chart but the axis fields are not in the order I want them in. I have highlighted them and selected "custom sort" and the "manual (you can drag items manually) option but I can't seem to be able to do that. Where am I supposed to be dragging the items from?

Any help on this would be really appreicated.

Many thanks

Katy

RE: Editing a pivot chart

Good afternoon Katy

It's not very clear what it means by 'You can drag items manually.'

What it means is you can go to the Pivot table (not the pivot chart) and drag items manually up or down within a row label. Or you can drag items within a column label to the left or right. The mouse must be a white arrow when doing this. Notice that the reordering is mirrored in your pivot chart.

Sounds like you know you can sort AZ or ZA by right clicking on the chart axis. Also you can by selecting a row or column label item in the pivot table, Pivot Table Tools, Options and clicking sort AZ or ZA.

Hope that solves your query until the next one!

Regards
Doug

Excel tip:

Separate the year from a date

To separate the year from a date use the =year() function, eg a date is in cell A1 and in A2 you wish to display the year enter the function =year(A1)
