Integrating excel data into Adobe Illustrator

As I designer I'd love to see how this works, if you have any tips or advice? Though I was pleasantly suprised by Excel's formatting of graphs, it would be good to have the flexibility to edit in illustrator as vector-based output

RE: Integrating excel data into Adobe Illustrator

Hi James

Thanks for getting in touch. As good as this feature sounds, it's nowhere near as integrated as you would hope. You can export an Excel chart as PDF then embed in Illustrator, which can refresh dynamically, or copy and paste the table data into the Illustrator table.

That's pretty much the limit of the options. The data is best prepared in Excel, then pasted into Illustrator for maximum formatting options.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

Excel tip:

Fill formulae across a sheet

To copy a formula down a spreadsheet where there is data underneath, to the left or to the right of the formula, double-click on the fill handle. The fill handle is the little black cross that appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the formula cell. Unfortunately, no similar facility exists to copy formulae across the sheet.

One reasonably quick way to copy an existing formula across a sheet is to select the formula and the cells on the right to which you want to copy it. Then press Ctrl+R to copy the formula across the selected range, or, if you are menu-minded, use the Edit|Fill|Right command.
