Planning

How would you suggest keeping track of multiple small changes? For example I typically have 60 plus on the go at any one time.

RE: Planning

Hi Rachel

Thank you for your question - that's an interesting one.

Sometimes there are a lot of changes that do need to be tracked and this can cause a lot of administration. Just to give me some context what kind of durations are you dealing with for these activities? Would they be around a day long, shorter or longer?

Let me know and I'll see if I can come up with some suggestions for you.

Kind regards,
Andrew

RE: Planning

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for coming back to me.

The work request's can be anything from 1 day to 30 days in duration. (The majority being 1 - 5 days per work request.)

I need to find an easy way of keeping track of this.

Regards,

Rachel

RE: Planning

Hi Rachel

Thank you for your reply. One way to make this easier to maintain might be to use the Tracking table rather than the Entry table to record progress.

You can get to this by right clicking the empty square above row one and selecting tracking (use the same process to switch back to Entry table once you are finished.)

The tracking table makes it easy to key in values for lots of tasks.

You can simplify the table by removing the columns you don't use. You can also turn off summary tasks which simplifies the layout further (Tools > Options > View then untick Show Summary Tasks

Let me know if this table looks like it might be more helpful.

Kind regards,
Andrew

RE: Planning

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your response.

I can't follow your instructions for finding the tracking table. Can you attach it to your response or send me the link?

Or send me a screen shot?

Thanks,

Rachel

RE: Planning

Hi Rachel

I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You can also access the Tracking table in Project 2010 by going to the View Ribbon, then in the Data group click the Tables button and from the list choose tracking.

Let me know how you get on.

Kind regards,

Andrew
