Merge fields

How do I do a nested merge field with 11 merge fields including an OR command?

The scenario is that there are 11 checkboxes and I need a definition inserted if any one of those are ticked. I understand we can only have 8 nested fields so is this possible?

Thanks

RE: Merge fields

Hi Izabelle,

Thank you for your question.

You can add checkboxes via the legacy form tools on the controls group of the Developer tab.

Once the checkboxes have been added, right click over a checkbox and choose Format Control.

Select the 'Mixed' option and then click into the 'Cell Link' box. Now select a cell that will automatically display true or false depending on whether the checkbox is ticked or not. Repeat this procedure for each checkbox.

On the spreadsheet I have attached, I have created an If(OR) formula which will place a value of 1 in the cell if just one of the checkboxes are ticked. My cell links are in column H and these are the cells that are being tested.

I hope it makes sense.

Regards

Simon

Word tip:

Type Out a Table

Tables can be created by simply typing out a string of PLUS SIGNS (+) and MINUS SIGNS (-).

First start the row with a PLUS SIGN (+) and then type MINUS SIGN (-) until you have the column width you want. To add a new column type PLUS SIGN (+) again. When you're done type a final PLUS SIGN (+) and press ENTER.

Word turns your text into a table. To add more rows to your table, move to the last cell in the table and press TAB.

Ensure to turn on the AutoFormat feature in Word.
That is, on the Tools > AutoCorrect menu. Select the AutoFormat As You Type tab and select the Tables check box.
