Anchor Formulea

I know that you can anchor a formulea by entering a dollar sign befor the cell refs - But in the past I have been shown a shortcut key to do the same thing on mulitple cells anching all the formuleas that are highlighted - Would be so grateful for some help with this.

RE: Anchor Formulea

Hello Sharon,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Excel courses with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding how to anchor cell references in Excel formulas using a shortcut key.

The shortcut key is F4

If you are using a particular cell in a formula which has to be absolute (fixed / anchored) all you do when clicking on that cell is immediately press F4. This action will place a $ sign in front of both the column reference and also the row reference. Pressing F4 again will remove the $ in front of the column reference and then the third press of F4 will swap the $ signs around. Press F4 one more time removes all $ signs.

If you forget to add the $ signs when creating the formula for the first time, simply click the cell which contains the formula and edit the formula directly in the cell or in the formula bar by clicking next to the cell reference which should be absolute and press F4.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
