Goak seek

I'm trying to use the goal seek function and have followed the instructions provided in the guide.

I have got as far as entering the "set cell", "to value" and "by changing cell". When I click "ok" it comes up with the error message "cell must contain a value", but all the cells I have selected do have values in them.

Thanks for your help.

RE: Goak seek

Hello Nikki,

Thank you for your question regarding using Excel Goal Seek.

There are only 2 rules here:

1) Most important rule when using Excel Goal Seek is that the Set cell MUST have a formula in it.
2) The By Changing Cell must of course have a value in it.

If you are following the above rules, then it must work. If you still have problems then send me a sample file with the issue you are trying to work with and I'll take a look at it and come back to you.

My email is rl@stl-training.co.uk

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

Have a great day.

Excel tip:

Pivot table grouping

If you want to group items in a pivot table together, simply highlight the labels for the fields either with the shift key (if adjacent)or with the contral key if they are not next to each other.
Right click and choose group. Give the cell a name.

When you double click on this cell it will either expamd or collapse your grouped area
