Pivot tables

Is there a way that you can identify positive and negative cells (e.g +£56 or -£23) from the same client without the numbers being netted automatically by the pivot table?
For example if I went to the races and won £63 in a race but then lost £25 in the next race I would want both those figures to be displayed separately and not netted to say that I had £38.

RE: Pivot tables

Hello Louisa,

Thank you for your question regarding Pivot tables and how to show negative values separately from positive ones.

Remember, a PivotTable summarises data and therefore it will automatically net positive and negative values. I would suggest that you add an extra column in your main data table that only contains the negative values replacing all remaining blank cells with a zero. If you then want to see the netted value, simply create a calculated field subtracting the negative figure from the positive figure.

Please try this suggestion out and if it works foor you, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

Excel tip:

Trace Dependents / Precedents without the blue arrows

Rather than using the toolbar you can press CTRL+] which is the equivelent of trace dependants and CTRL+[ for precendants. Both of these ways though will not show the blue arrows but jump to the cell containing the formula.
