Why does excel breakdown when copying

When copying a sheet the program goes into an error loop that obliges you to keep close excell

RE: Why does excel breakdown when copying

Hi Paulo

Thanks for your question. It was good to see the error yesterday too. I think it may be that the workbook contains a named range that is out of date or points somewhere that no longer exists. The reference to it might need deleting.

First make a backup of your document. This way you can test it out to make sure nothing gets damaged in the process before you use this on a live spreadsheet.

Open the workbook and go to the Formulas tab and click the Name Manager button.

Name manager lists the ranges currently stored in the workbook. The error message lists the name of the range (I think it was called P)

Find that named range in the list and take a look at what cells it is referring to. This is shown at the bottom of the dialogue box when you click on the range in the list.

It may be that the range called P is pointing to a sheet that is no longer in your workbook, or have moved or changed since the file was first setup.

You may find deleting the P named range or correcting its reference fixes this recurring error message that you have been encountering.

Ideally it would be good for you to check with the author of the original document as they might be able identify if the named range is still required.

I hope this helps - always work with a backup copy of your file so you can be sure the problem has been fixed and all is working normally before applying to a document used in production.

Let me know how you get on,

Kind regards,

Andrew
