Advanced Filter/Unique Records
Hi,
I am trying to use the advanced filter to provide me with unique records.
I have a spreadsheet with repeated numbers in cells in column A, but with different information in the columns to the right. I need to filter column A to only show unique records, I have tried to use the advanced filter, but it doesn't seem to be working. Could someone please help?
Thanks
Kate
RE: Advanced Filter/Unique Records
Hi Kate
It may be worth trying this out first to see how Advanced Filter works in Excel 2003.
On a blank sheet Type Month in A1 and Jan in A2. Then autofill A2 down to A40 so there are several duplicate months Nov, Dec, Jan etc. Then click in A1 and bold.
1. Select Data, Filter, Advanced Filter.
The range A1:A40 should become the List range.
2. Click Copy to another location then click on a black cell eg C1.
3. Tick Unique records only.
You should see only 12 months now in C1:C12
Let me know if that helps first. It will give you a unique list of the data you have in column A.
Only if your table contains duplicate records will they be removed in the same way.
