Macros
I set up a simple macro as a personal file. Now everytime I open a new excel sheet, it shows up a message that:"PERSONAL.XLSB is locked for editing" and asks me to choose between read only, notify, and cancel. Can this pop up be disabled?
RE: Macros
Hi Patricia
I've just created the same message about the Personal macro file. It happens when you have two versions of Excel open at one time.
So, you can avoid the message appearing by opening your spreadsheets from within Excel. Let me know if you'd prefer to delete the Personal macro file and I'll take take you though it. Just let me know which Windows you are using.

RE: Macros
Hi Doug,
Thank you for your reply.
I use several screens and always have more than one excel sheet open. Instead of opening files through "open document" on the same excel window, I open new excel windows so I can have them next to each other for a better overview.
Is there any way of resolving this? Should I delete this macro and create the same one using a different procedure to prevent the pop up from appearing?
Many Thanks,
Trish
RE: Macros
Hi again Trish
Perhaps it is better not to use Personal macros if you find it convenient having more than one version of Excel running.
One suggestion - Create your own macro workbook that you keep open and use instead of the Personal Macro file. You just have to remember to open it each time.
Also when opening two docs in one Excel session try right clicking on the Task bar and choosing Tile Windows vertically. See if it helps when using multiple screens.
Hope that helps.
