Sparklines

In Excel 2010, we can insert sparklines within a cell. Is it possible to get a sparkline to be behind a data series rather than in a cell?

RE: Sparklines

Hello Kenza,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Excel Advanced course with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding Sparklines. The answer to your questions is 'yes', you can apply the sparkline directly into the cells which were selected to produce the data series. Please note that the location must be in the same column or row.

What I have done is select a few cells e.g. B7:B15 (the Data Range) then use the same cells as the Location Range. I have found that Column works better than Line when doing this.

Another thing that I find works well is to use a custom sparkline axis with a minimum less than the lowest amount in the data range and a maximum greater than the highest amount in the data range.

The default colour is also too dark for a professional look, so you need to select a lighter style colour in the design ribbon.

Test this out and I'm sure you will be successful.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

Change the Default Width of All Columns in Excel 2010

If you want to change the width of the columns in your Excel 2010 spreadsheet, making them either larger or smaller, here's how:

In the Cells group on the Home tab, click Format.

Hover over the section called Cell Size and a drop down list will appear, select Default Width from this list.

In the Standard Width dialog box, enter the size you want to set as the default width and click OK.
