Graphs

How can you copy a graph in one spreadsheet, but copy the link of that graph to another spreadsheet? So when you change details of the oroginal data the graph on the other spreadsheet updates.

There was a option on the 2003 version to paste special links however in the 2007 version this option is greyed out and therefore not available.

RE: Graphs

Hello Alan

Thank you for your question regarding graphs.

It is possible to copy linked charts. Once your chart is created in one spreadsheet, if you right-click over the chart (make sure its over the white background and not over part of the chart columns etc...).
Select Copy, go to the other workbook, and choose paste. If you want the chart as a chart sheet, then with chart selected in new book, look at button in top right, called Move Chart. Charts are dynamically linked so changes made in original spreadsheet will update other charts too.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

Excel tip:

Checking formulas with multiple operators

When dealing with formulas containing more than one operator (+, -, /, *), Excel follow standard BEDMAS order of operation rules. These rules specify the order that calculations will be performed in, regardless of how the formula reads left to right:

B = brackets
E = exponents
D = division
M = multiplication
A = addition
S = subtraction

It should be noted that multiplication and division are considered equal; as are addition and subtraction.

If you would like to check the order in which Excel is performing calculations in a formula, simply click on the cell containing the formula. Then go to Tools - Formula Auditing and select Evaluate Formula.

In the Evaluate Formula dialogue box that appears on your screen, click the Evaluate button to see how Excel calculates the formula result.
