Reformating dates

I download date based data from a third party for analysis. The data is US dates and in two different formats 12-01-2010 12/13/2010. I cannot find a way to change these different date formats to one format and then from US date to UK date formats. I have to create a new column and manually add in the dates which takes 40 mins or so!

RE: Reformating dates

Hi Emma,

Thank you for your question.

To format dates from US to UK:

- Select the date range i.e. A1:A20

- Open the 'Format Cells' dialogue box (right click on data set or Ctrl+1)

- On the 'Number' tab select 'Date' from the category list

- Ensure 'English (U.K)' is set in the 'Locale (Location):' field (towards the bottom of the dialogue box)

- Select the relevant UK date format.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

RE: Will be marked as resolved in 5 days

Thanks Nafeesa - Sadly that has no effect at all in this case.

I tried again with the document saved in both CSV and xlsx format. I have also tried custom dd/mm/yyyy in the past.
