The VLookup function is part of a group of functions that can return values by looking them up in data tables.

For example:
Worksheet 1 - Employee Name
Worksheet 2 - Employee Address
You wish to retrieve the address information returning the values to the worksheet with the employee names (without copy - paste)

The VLookup searches vertically in the first column of a table until it locates a value that matches or exceeds the one that you're looking up, returning a value from the column you speicify.
