Pivot Tables

I am trying to create a new PT but I keep getting the following message -

The pivot table file name is not valid. To create a pt you must you data that is organised as a list with labeled columns

I'm confused as mine are labeled????

its ok I have sorted it now!!!!!!!! Phew

RE: Pivot Tables

Hi Claire

Thank you for your question - glad you got it all sorted.

Sometimes Excel is unsure of the range of cells to use as the source for your pivot table. Make sure you have clicked into the source data before choosing to pivot. Even better would be to highlight the range of cells including labels then start the pivot process (although most times this is not necessary).

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Excel tip:

Formula for last day of month

In some cases it is necessary to find the last day of a month for a given date. If you use the following formula, you can achieve this, ie; if you have a column of dates, use this formula to find the end of month for each day by using the fill handle. The formula is as follows, and assumes in this example that the first date in question is in cell C5, in any other cell type; =DATE(YEAR(C5),MONTH(C5)+1,1)-1
