XIRR / CAGR
XIRR function returns #VALUE! even though I have copied the exact example from the MS help page: http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/excel-help/xirr-HP005209341.aspx
I also checked that the Analysis Toolpak is installed.
Ultimately, I am trying to calculate CAGR for a series of positive revenue numbers, so please advise if XIRR is not the best function to use. Thanks.
RE: XIRR / CAGR
Hi Ginger, thanks for your query. Check whether your source data is correctly formatted. If your numbers are formatted as text the function won't work correctly. It sounds like you're pasting it directly onto an unformatted spreadsheet which has the default "General" formatting. Note also, that example applies to Excel 2003. Have a read of this:
http://excel.tips.net/Pages/T002503_Using_the_XIRR_Function.html
Also, if you're after a CAGR calculator have a look at this:

Hope this helps,
