Pivot Tables that pulls from different databases

Hello I've been trying to rebuild a spreadsheet that uses a Pivot table as the output sheet and so far it works for the individual databases but gives errors when I join the databases together.

The aim is to have an output sheet that shows units delivered and units in the system (open orders) and hopefully to bring in revised forecasted figures sometime later on.

Input data. I've copied and pasted the databases alongside each other so that it moves from left to Right with 2 reference lists of units. I then copy and paste the reference lists so that both of them are to the left of the data that is needed in the pivot table.

When I do the pivot table using the respective unit list and corresponding data it works but when I try using one list for both sources it come back with errors such as missing data. It seems like one list limits the other list. How do I get around this?

Hello Lynda

Thanks for your post and detail on what you are facing. we have reviewed this and agree that for us to determine if we can help we will need to see a working copy of your file.

This does take us beyond the scope of the forum but it gives us a chance to see if there is a solution available and if so we can then define the amount of work, timelines and associated costs for you to make a decision on.

Excel tip:

Shortcuts for working with named ranges in Excel

If you are working with or creating named ranges in your spreadsheets, then you may find the following shortcut keys useful.

- Bring up the Define Names dialogue box on screen by using Ctrl + F3 (instead of going to Insert - Names).

- Create Names from labels you have entered into the spreadsheet by highlighting the labels and related figures, then hold down Shift + Ctrl + F3. You can then choose to create names from the top or bottom rows, or left or right columns.

- Go directly to a named range by hitting the F5 key. The Go To dialogue box will open and display any named ranges in the spreadsheet. Simply select the named range to navigate to it in the spreadsheet.
